QuickBooks Data repair

In order for the QuickBooks Data file to be read correctly, the data has to be ordered and sequenced correctly in the file. It makes it only easier when the data file is under 200 MB. When the data file grows larger than this, the software struggles to keep all of the data in order. This can result in incorrect reports. An indicator of a corrupt file is if the total Assets do not equal total Liabilities and Equity.

QuickBooks data can be damaged due to several reasons:

  • Power failures
  • List data with improper entries
  • Damaged accounts, names, or items, then data corruption will occur certainly

How you can identify a damaged data file:

  • Launch QuickBooks and click on File
  • Now click Utilities, and then you have to select Rebuild Data.
  • If you are prompted to back up the data file, click OK
  • Wait for QuickBooks to display “Rebuild has completed” and then click OK.
  • Next, select Verify Data from Utilities and run it to check for the possible data damage.

A corrupt file can cause additional problems if those programs use automatic sync managers to connect to QuickBooks. Tools provided by Intuit prove to be a quick fix to the problem.

According to Intuit standards, if your file size exceeds 200MB for QuickBooks Pro or Premier or 450MB for QuickBooks Enterprise, you should reduce the size of your file.

Here are a couple of options you may consider using if you have a large file:

  • Use the “File Condense” functionality to reduce your file size.
  • Start a new QuickBooks file with Opening Balances. This will provide the most significant reduction in file size, but understandably, it also requires the most time to complete.

E-Tech is the leading provider of QuickBooks Data Recovery service in North America. Its award-winning repair services repairs files in the same version of QuickBooks that you use. Unlike Intuit, you will not need to upgrade your version of QuickBooks to the latest version to have your file repaired. We support all versions of QuickBooks, including US, UK, Canadian, Australian and NZ versions. We can also replay data from a QuickBooks Log file (.TLG file) into an older backup of QuickBooks (QBW or QBB).
